Glenmore Apartments - Woodbine and Gerrard

Proposed Construction Development Plan
  • Who is Alternative Living Solutions?

We are a development company that focuses on conversion and construction of
affordable and supportive housing units. We have more than15 years experience in the field
and have completed a number of other supportive housing projects such as 793-795
Gerrard Street. We have an excellent reputation with the City of Toronto and deliver our
housing projects on budget and on time.

  • Why Convert the Banquet Hall into Housing?

The Banquet hall has been vacant and derelict for almost 10 years. This new building will provide much-needed safe, affordable homes for homeless people living with mental illness, and on the path to wellness.

  • What Happened to the Condo Project that was approved?

The condo project failed because the former owner was unable to pre sell the units.

  • What is the Housing Proposal?

We purchased the property from the former owner. We propose to build a four storey apartment building to provide 29 one bedroom units and offices and common amenity space for tenants. Many tenants will make this their home on a long-term basis.

The building will meet the City's Green Development Standards. It will have a fire safety plan and we will continue to be responsible for the maintenance of the property after construction is complete. The building also provides parking in accordance with standards for affordable housing.

  • What kind of approvals are needed?

The building does not need any rezoning or Committee of Adjustment approvals. Our site plan has been approved and our working drawings are being completed. We will then proceed to get the necessary Building permits and of course be subject to inspections by the City.

  • What kind of services will tenants receive?

Alternative Living Solutions and the Glenmore apartment site will be a good neighbor in the community. Tenants will be provided with support services by a number of agencies. The tenants will also have the use of community meeting room.

  • When will the building be complete?

We are proposing to start construction by May-June 2008 with completion, no later
than spring/summer 2009.

  • Who can I contact to get more information?

If you need further information about the building please contact Mary Campisi
at 905 - 470 0505 ext. 242. She will be pleased to assist you.
